2.2 Delta-Oriented SPL Integration Testing

The methods in this category analyze deltas between the architectures of product variants and perform test case prioritization based on these deltas [14, 15]. Lachman et al. [16] uses a delta-oriented architecture but improves the method based on the feature failure probability for test case prioritization. All of these methods are incremental SPL integration testing methods, introducing a test case prioritization method that occupies a large part of regression testing. However, unlike traditional regression testing, a test case with a higher priority means more interactions between components related to deltas. During risk-based test case prioritization, a test case with higher priority covers the interaction between components associated with a delta with a higher risk level.

In addition to the above two categories, two researchers [10, 17] propose incremental integration testing to generate test cases for integration testing from test cases for unit testing. When using this method, the variability is replaced by the stub or driver, and if the actual value of variability is determined, it is replaced by the actual module.
